Below is a letter and question that I posted to an individual who both teaches and promotes that a Christian's SOUL can be inhabited by a Demonic spirit.

You state the following... (emphasis added)

Although a Christian can NOT be demon possessed, the soul (mind, will, emotions) and the body of the Believer still can become object of habitation and control by an evil spirit or spirits.

As such, your response to 1 Cor. 6:19 is that the Believer's BODY is now symbolically the TEMPLE of the Holy Ghost.

Some would say that because the body of the Believer is the temple of the Spirit, that the body of the Believer can not be inhabited by an evil spirit. "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" (I Corinthians 6:19). I would agree that the body of the Believer is the temple of God, but some Believers poison their bodies with illegal drugs and their minds with evil thoughts of hate and even murder.

Therefore, respective of the Jewish Temple in the Hebrew Scriptures, it consisted of the external physical structure itself, and the two inner rooms one partitioned from the other by a veil and each thus called the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies respectively.

Thus, to my question - you suggest that a Believer can become the object of HABITATION and CONTROL by a demonic spirit or spirits.

To this end, if a demonic spirit(s) has/have indwelling HABITATION and CONTROL privileges of its Believing victim's physiological Temple (Body) and Soul (Holy Place) then that individual is by all accounts to use your coinage demonized, respective to both their Body and Soul.

However, you say that this same Believer is NOT demon possessed with respect to their most inner SPIRIT (Holy of Holies) because by analogy YHWH's Holy Spirit is indwelling that room of the Believer's temple (Body) and as Apostle Paul declared - the two Spirits are now ONE SPIRIT. (1 Cor. 6:17)

Moreover, Apostle Paul as stated before once again declares that the Believer's body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit and that TEMPLE is HOLY. (1 Cor. 3:16-17)

Thus, Apostle Paul deliberately drew the symbolic comparison in 1Cor. 6:19 between the psychological structure (mortal Body - the TEMPLE) of the Believer and the Jewish Temple for which God and His Holy Spirit INDWELT - inhabited.

To this objective, Apostle Paul purposely intended to describe by his analogy that the New Covenant Temple of grace wherein the Holy Spirit now dwells was the Believer's physical body in comparison and contrast to the Old Covenant physical Temple of law wherein YHWH formerly dwelt.

Therefore, at NO time did an EVIL (demonic) spirit EVER have an indwelling HABITATION and CONTROL of either one of the two inner rooms of the Temple of God - the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies respectively.

As such, do you see anything WRONG with your inferred thesis that a demonic spirit(s) can actually take up residential HABITATION and CONTROL of the inner SOUL (Holy Place) of the Believer...while the Holy Spirit of YHWH Himself indwells the Believer and the two Spirits unite becoming ONE Spirit - within the most inner Spirit (Holy of Holies) of the Believer - who is themselves the HOLY TEMPLE of God?

In summary, can you actually cite for me any Scriptures where the Holy Temple of YHWH and His Holy Spirit ever co-inhabited together with a demonic spirit(s) within the Holy Temple of YHWH itself?

In addition, God declared in Exodus 20:3 the His People should have NO other gods before Him nor should they bow down to any other gods because He is a JEALOUS God. (Ex. 34:14)

Therefore, if God will NOT accept ANY other gods before Him - do you honestly believe that He is actually going to dwell in the same HOLY TEMPLE (of which the Believer is) with a Demonic spirit equally INHABITING that same TEMPLE as well? Are you really that theologically naive?

Thus, to suggest that a Believer whom has been JUSTIFIED by God as a result of their FAITH in and acceptance of the Shed Blood of Jesus, and therefore declared to be FORGIVEN and RIGHTEOUS - can have their SOUL "inhabited" by a demonic spirit is simply another LYING doctrine of a devil.
